Para a próxima edição da Bienal de Veneza, o curador Adriano Pedrosa está destacando artistas indígenas e queer, assim como aqueles do Sul Global
Foi divulgada a lista dos 332 artistas participantes da exposição principal da 60ª Bienal de Veneza deste ano, com curadoria de Adriano Pedrosa – primeiro curador latino-americano da bienal. O tema “Foreigners Everywhere” explora a ideia de viver à margem como um estranho ou um emigrado.
Em conferência de imprensa, Pedrosa destacou a considerável dispersão geográfica dos artistas que selecionou, com ênfase nos artistas indígenas e do Sul Global. O número total de artistas incluídos este ano supera em muito os 213 incluídos na edição de 2022.
O atual presidente da Bienal, Roberto Cicutto, também anunciou seu sucessor, Pietrangelo Buttafuoco. “Estamos gerindo esta passagem”, acrescentou Cicutto, “com todo o respeito pela instituição, para que tudo o que vai acontecer esteja de acordo com a qualidade que a Bienal merece”.
Estrangeiros em todos os lugares
Os temas sobre migração e decolonização estão no centro da exposição principal deste ano, que responde a “um mundo cheio de crises múltiplas relacionadas com o movimento e a existência de pessoas através de países, nações, territórios e fronteiras, que refletem os riscos e as armadilhas da língua, tradução, etnia, expressando diferenças e disparidades condicionadas pela identidade, nacionalidade, raça, gênero, sexualidade, riqueza e liberdade”, de acordo com a declaração curatorial de Pedrosa.

A obra em que se baseia o título da exposição, a série de esculturas em néon em evolução de Claire Fontaine, Foreigners Everywhere (2004), será instalada em 53 idiomas diferentes no Gaggiandre do Arsenale.
Pedrosa observou que os artistas indígenas são frequentemente tratados como estrangeiros nos seus próprios países. O coletivo indígena brasileiro MAHKU – Movimento dos Artistas Huni Kuin produzirá um mural monumental para a fachada do Pavilhão Central, que abriga a exposição principal. A primeira sala conterá uma instalação em grande escala do Coletivo Mataaho, uma colaboração de quatro mulheres Māori.
A principal ênfase histórica da arte da exposição, conhecida como “Núcleo Histórico”, dará destaque aos movimentos modernistas que surgiram na América Latina, Ásia, África e Oriente Médio durante o século XX, mas ainda permanecem em grande parte desconhecidos.
“Precisamos urgentemente aprender mais sobre e com eles”, disse Pedrosa.
A primeira parte desta seção é dedicada ao retrato e apresentará obras de 112 artistas como Selwyn Wilson, Cicero Dias, Yêdamaria, Laura Rodig, Romulo Rozo, Inji Efflatoun, Grace Salome Kwami, Lee Qoede e Gerard Sekoto. Outra parte contará com 37 artistas abstratos, incluindo Sandy Adsett, Fanny Sanin, Eduardo Terrazas, Samia Halaby e Etel Adnan.
Finalmente, a segunda parte explorará as atividades de 40 artistas que fazem parte da diáspora italiana de primeira ou segunda geração. Obras de artistas como Lidy Prati, Bona de Mandiargues, Nenne Sanguineti Poggi e Gianni Bertini serão apresentadas em cavaletes de vidro inspirados na arquiteta ítalo-brasileira Lina Bo Bardi.
