Juntas, Frieze e Frieze Masters dão origem à semana mais significativa do calendário cultural de Londres
A Frieze Londres se prepara anunciando a lista de expositores que participarão de sua 15ª edição e também da 6ª edição da Frieze Masters, que acontece simultaneamente no Regent’s Park entre 5 e 8 de outubro de 2017, com um preview para convidados na quarta-feira, 4 de outubro.
Com mais de 160 das principais galerias do mundo na Frieze London e 130 na Frieze Masters, as duas feiras, ao lado de Frieze Sculpture – uma mostra pública gratuita de grandes obras de arte ao ar livre – juntas formam a mais significativa semana do calendário cultural anual de Londres.
Entre as novidades para 2017, a Frieze London dá as boas-vindas à curadora Ruba Katrib (SculptureCenter, Nova York) como co-conselheira da seção Focus, dedicada às galerias emergentes. Enquanto isso, Ralph Rugoff (Hayward Gallery, Londres) será a curadora da Frieze Talks pela primeira vez.
Finalmente, “Sex Work: Feminist Art & Radical Politics” é a nova seção temática dedicada ao legado de artistas feministas radicais, com curadoria de Alison Gingeras (curador independente). Frieze Projects, com curadoria de Raphael Gygax (Museu Migros, Zurique), apresenta obras comissionadas de 11 artistas internacionais, incluindo o vencedor do Frieze Artist Award, Kiluanji Kia Henda.
Na Frieze Masters, Tim Marlow (Royal Academy of Arts, Londres) assume o comando do celebrado Frieze Masters Talks. A seção Spotlight traz mostras individuais de pioneiros do século XX, com curadoria de Toby Kamps (recém-nomeado diretor e curador chefe do Blaffler Art Museum, Universidade de Houston) enquanto a Collections apresenta galerias especializadas em arte e objetos extraordinários, selecionadas por Sir Norman Rosenthal (curador independente).
Dentre as galerias participantes, nove são brasileiras. Na seção principal da Frieze London estarão A Gentil Carioca, Fortes D’Aloia & Gabriel, Mendes Wood DM, Galeria Luisa Strina e Vermelho. A Galeria Jaqueline Martins estará na Frieze Focus, enquanto a Galeria Berenice Arvani apresenta Décio Noviello na Spotlight. Por fim, na Frieze Masters, participam Bergamin & Gomide, Dan Galeria e Fortes D’Aloia & Gabriel.
