Mais de 190 galerias de trinta países se reunirão na 6ª edição da Frieze NY. Onze são brasileiras.
Entre os dias 5 e 7 de maio, grandes nomes da arte internacional estarão reunidos no que será realizada no Randall’s Island Park, para mais uma edição da Frieze Nova York. Os destaques da feira deste ano incluem apresentações de galerias modernas e contemporâneas, incluindo nomes que estão retornando à feira, como Gavin Brown’s Enterprise (Nova York), Matthew Marks Gallery (Nova York), Acquavella (Nova York), Lévy Gorvy (Londres), Mendes Wood DM (São Paulo), The Modern Institute (Glasgow), David Zwirner (Nova York) e a Marian Goodman Gallery (Nova York), assim como novos expositores, como Castelli Gallery (Nova York), Bernard Jacobson Gallery (Londres) e Axel Vervoordt Gallery (Antuérpia).
Este ano, a Frieze Projects apresenta uma série de novas encomendas à artistas, com curadoria de Cecilia Alemani, diretora da High Line, além da Frieze Talks, com mesas redondas e conversas entre as principais figuras culturais. Toby Kamps, curador da The Menil Collection em Houston, comanda pela primeira vez a seção ampliada da Spotlight, enquanto Jacob Proctor, diretor de artes e mídia do Neubauer Collegium for Culture and Society, da Universidade de Chicago, ao lado de Fabian Schöneich, Curador do Portikus em Frankfurt, retornam como conselheiros curadores da seção Frame.
Victoria Siddall, diretora da Frieze Fairs, disse: “A Frieze New York continua evoluindo e este ano as galerias estão trazendo exposições de maior amplitude e qualidade do que nunca, refletindo os diversos interesses culturais de nossa audiência”. Ela complementa: “O aumento da presença da arte do século XX na Frieze New York criará um amplo contexto para as muitas galerias contemporâneas da feira e abrirá diálogos fascinantes. Os visitantes poderão aguardar e descobrir talentos emergentes desde a Guatemala até o Japão”.

Dentre os nomes confirmados, estarão presentes onze galerias brasileiras. Na seção principal, estarão Casa Triângulo, Fortes D’Aloia & Gabriel, Mendes Wood DM, Galeria Nara Roesler, Galeria Luisa Strina e Vermelho. Na seção Frame, a Galeria Jaqueline Martins destaca as obras de Hudinilson Jr. Já na seção Spotlight, marcam presença as galerias Raquel Arnaud (com Willys de Castro), Silvia Cintra + Box 4 (Amilcar de Castro) e Marilia Razuk (Julio Plaza). E na seção Focus, A Gentil Carioca encerra a lista das presenças nacionais.
